Masatoshi Kuboyama (Max) – Senior Partner

Max has been working in the Private Bank industry for over 20 years. Prior to joining Ucap Hong Kong, Max was with EFG Bank (AG) HK for 9 years managing his client assets across multiple investment strategies. He resigned as Managing Director in 2015. Prior to that he worked for HSBC Bank Tokyo Branch Private Banking as Marketing Department Head from 2000 to 2006, where he was responsible for facilitating the development of the HNWI market.

From 1997 to 2000, he took up the management role in ABN AMRO Bank Tokyo Branch Private Banking. He had started his career with Citibank, Tokyo and spent 16 years (1981-1997) with the bank with last position at the Private Banking Department (1986 – 1997). Citibank is recognized broadly as the pioneer in the development of private banking business in Japan. Max built his career as private banker including the assignment to product development unit.


Narayan P. Mulchandani – Senior Partner

Mr. Mulchandani has been involved in the financial markets for over 20 years, providing dealing and advising in securities and futures contracts. He has been primarily involved in research sales of the Indian Equities market and has also covered other South Asian and South East Asian equity Markets.

Prior to joining UCAP HK, Narayan spent 8 years at Citigroup Global Markets Asia Limited (Hong Kong) after which he successfully set up Anand Rathi Financial Services HK Office where he served as a Responsible Officer. Narayan then advanced his career at other leading institutions including Standard Chartered Securities HK & Phillip Securities HK.

Narayan holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Cornell University, USA.


Masahiro Yoshikawa – Senior Partner

Mr Yoshikawa has 30 years of experience in financial industry. Prior to joining Ucap Hong Kong Asset Management Ltd, he was a senior private banker for over 16 years with Credit Agricole (Suisse) S.A. Hong Kong Branch. He also spent 2 years with Societe Generale Hong Kong.

Mr Yoshikawa also spent almost 15 years in Yamaichi group post his university graduation. He was a Fund Manager in Yamaichi Capital Management (Tokyo) managing Japanese Equity portfolio and in charge of overseas investors and HNW clients in 1986 and went onto become Managing Director of Yamaichi Capital Management (Hong Kong) from 1994 – 1998.

Over his 30 years of experience in the financial industry he has acquired extensive expertise in asset management and has a rich experience in investing into Asia Equities.

Haruo Kusakabe – Senior Partner

Starting with Morgan Stanley Japan in 1987, Mr. Kusakabe has 30 years of experience in financial industry including investment banking private banking and other financial area as CRO or Account Executive.

During his stint in Investment Banking for 15 years , he had focused on Japanese corporate clients including listed operating companies and subsidiaries of those companies.

With his strong relationships with those companies, he advised on products including US junk bonds derived from M&A transactions, emerging market instruments, US mortgage backed securities, US equity, US REIT, Structured notes, and other derivative instruments.

After investment banking, he joined Credit Suisse Geneva as a relationship manager and covered mostly Japanese HNWI for 3 years and moved to HK branch in 2004. He left CS HK as a team Head of Japan Desk in 2006 and went back to Japan for taking care of family issues. For 2006 to 2015 after backing to Japan, he worked as an independent financial consultant to cover both corporate & individual clients in wealth management & life insurance.

In 2015, he joined EFG Bank AG HK as Senior Vice President to cover Japanese HNWI clients and manage the assets of those clients.

He hold a BS in Engineering from Waseda University in Japan and JD (Juris Doctor) from Komazawa University Law School in Japan.
